All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Wigston, you must be at least 21 years old, though some vehicle types may require drivers to be older, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid full driving licence suited to the vehicle category is necessary, along with identification and proof of address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also required, as well as any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Wigston office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damages. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by you. It is important to return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated, and applicable charges will be applied. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility

Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Use:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside designated geographical areas requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Wigston will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the last year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
